Despite London being one of the richest cities on Earth, there is a huge issue with homelessness. Our students decided to share their time and cooking skills to help those sleeping rough and dedicate their free Friday to helping in a soup kitchen.
The soup kitchen provides free hot meals, clothes and toiletries for people who most of them live in the streets. Some have a history of mental illness; some are victims of domestic violence; but despite the emotional nature of the day, everybody agreed afterwards that the atmosphere was intensely fun and incredible positive.
At the end of the day all of them came back thinking it was one of the best decisions they ever made, and ready to do it again very soon.
One of the differential values that our students get in Lakefield Hospitality College is this personal development – not just on the professional side, but also socially and humanly. That is due to the enormous effort Lakefield invests into making each of them a wonderful professional but at the same time, because we really believe in the amazing capacity of human beings to surpass themselves and improve without stopping, helping each student to become an even better person in all aspects.
